Koch Minerals & Trading (KM&T) is seeking a Lead Originator and Physical Trader to help accelerate our growth in the NGL markets. We are looking for an entrepreneurial risk-taker who brings both origination and trading skills to help shape the direction of our growing business— someone who can lead deal negotiations, build out an asset portfolio, and apply a trading mentality to monetize the opportunities they create.

This role is part of KM&T’s NGL trading desk. KM&T focuses on the management of paper and physical positions through in-depth industry knowledge, fundamental trading practices, and optimization of key value chains. The role will report to the Head of NGL Trading.

• Origination & Business Development
  • Identify and develop new and creative customer growth opportunities consistent with the business strategies, bringing an entrepreneurial, risk-taking mindset that accelerates KM&T’s growth.
  • Build and expand KM&T’s asset portfolio by identifying, evaluating, and securing new storage, transportation, and other infrastructure-related opportunities.
  • Lead the negotiation of key deal terms while applying a trading mentality to structure, capture, and monetize value — developing and finalizing deal-specific contracts with cross-functional teams (legal, credit, and trading).
  • Assess and frame up opportunities using sound economic and decision-making models; collaborate with the trading team to identify marginal value and assess risks.
• Physical Trading
  • Monetize origination opportunities, managing and optimizing physical NGL positions across storage, transport, and other assets.
  • Leverage market knowledge and industry relationships to capture value across the physical NGL markets.
• Customer & Counter party Relationships
  • Develop new and strengthen existing relationships with key customers and counter parties across the physical NGL markets; understand what our customers value and identify areas of mutual benefit.
  • Leverage these insights to deliver additional value and foster long-term partnerships.
• Market Assessment
  • Develop a deep and comprehensive understanding of the physical NGL markets and their participants; identify key trends and frame growth strategies accordingly.

• Trading, marketing, or origination experience in the NGL industry (C2-C5).
• Strong industry relationships and knowledge of the physical NGL markets.
• 5+ years of experience in the energy or commodities industry
• Bachelor’s degree

• Experience building an asset portfolio — including storage, transportation, and other infrastructure.
• Experience negotiating, contracting, and closing commercial business.
• Experience assessing the NGL markets and providing a point of view or recommendations on opportunities.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or another business field.
