POSITION PURPOSE
Performs detailed quantitative and qualitative credit analysis and underwriting for commercial loan requests. Works closely with commercial lending officers to understand and measure the risks associated with both new and existing client relationships and to create loan structures to mitigate these risks. Prepares in-depth written presentations summarizing very complex loan opportunities with minimal turn-around times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Analyzes client-specific financial statements, spreads, and ratios as well as broader industry and economic risks that could jeopardize loan repayment.
- Engage in consultative dialogue with borrowers and loan officers to review credit issues and obtain additional information, including outside calls as required.
- Structures loans within policy and to effectively mitigate risk.
- Prepare credit memorandums that summarize lending opportunities, the associated risks, and the proposed loan structure.
- Identify high-risk credit situations and take appropriate action to ensure that the Bank is well protected.
- Conduct or assist with presentations to loan approval authorities, including loan committee.
- Mentors and provides guidance to junior analysts.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification : College degree in business or equivalent and 7+ years of related banking experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
Experience
Required:
Extensive experience in underwriting business loans for commercial bank clientele across a broad range of industries. Must have deep familiarity with regulation and industry best practices for commercial and industrial and commercial real estate loans.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, industry data, and customer profiles. Extensive ability to produce both oral and written presentations.
Ability to apply concepts such as trends, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to create and interpret projections based on extrapolation of financial data.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical information in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to make appropriate judgments and decisions with limited guidance
Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently on projects of high complexity with minimal supervision
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and instill trust within the organization
Ability to multitask is essential
