Vice President, Portfolio Valuation and Fund Advisory Services; Energy Focus)– Houston, TX

Responsibilities

• Lead FVA portfolio valuation teams, providing valuations of illiquid debt and equity securities held by hedge funds, private equity funds, and business development companies for fair value reporting of the funds’ assets to investors.
• Lead business and financial due diligence sessions with clients.
• Provide leadership and guidance toward valuing companies, businesses, and securities.
• Direct the efforts of Associates and Financial Analysts, reviewing their work product to ensure accurate and thorough delivery within the required timeframe.
• Review published financial information, including public company filings, press releases, research analyst reports, and Bloomberg data across a wide range of industries and sectors, including energy and oil & gas.
• Review third‑party and in‑house oil and gas reserves reports, understand relevant energy industry metrics, and review net asset value analyses for upstream oil and gas companies.
• Present valuation analyses and conclusions internally and externally.
• Manage client deliverables.
• Assist in building and reviewing complex financial models (e.g., to value specific securities or transaction structures).
• Assist in quality control, execution, and industry consultation across the entire financial advisory services platform.
• Develop creative content, thought leadership and collaborate across service lines.
• Lead internal discussions of key takeaways from quarterly engagements across the energy portfolios of PV clients and prepare summaries for internal and external circulation.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly energy market updates.
• Coordinate with internal administrative support teams to complete revenue accruals, prepare engagement invoices, working paper files, and other compliance/end‑of‑engagement close‑out procedures.
• Prepare fee proposals to clients, including scoping discussions, pitch materials and internal engagement pricing committee memoranda.
• Prepare confidentiality agreements, engagement letters and ad‑hoc agreements, coordinating with prospects, clients and the legal department to negotiate and execute such agreements.
• Pitch engagements and lead business development initiatives.
• Build and maintain direct relationships with current and prospective clients.

• Minimum of six years of experience in financial services for Vice Presidents.
• Prior equity and/or debt valuation or related experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced accounting, finance, financial modeling, and analytical abilities.
• Demonstrated experience managing Analysts, Associates, or other personnel.
• Entrepreneurial attitude: desire and willingness to support a growing practice and contribute across the full suite of offerings.
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and common database systems.
• Highly motivated with an exceptional work ethic and a demonstrated ability and desire to work cooperatively with team members and client professionals.

• Experience with Big Four valuation or independent valuation consulting.
• Master’s degree or progress toward an advanced degree.
• CFA designation.

• Salary range: $145,000 – $225,000 (actual salary may vary).
