Your Key Responsibilities
As a Severance Tax Intern, you will collaborate with oil and gas clients to identify severance tax incentives and deductions. You will spend your time working on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities, and tasks. You will be working in a highly collaborative culture where active listening and information sharing with colleagues are an essential part of the role.
As an Intern in our Indirect practice, your role will include:
- Building a broad base of knowledge and technical competence by staying current on trends, developments and technical authorities, applying them to complex situations impacting severance taxes.
- Collecting, entering, and performing data calculations.
- Utilizing data tools such as Excel, Access, Alteryx and other data tools to manage and analyze data effectively.
- Building client relationships, demonstrating knowledge of client business and delivering high-quality, timely services that exceed client expectations.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency and attention to detail.
- Demonstrating professionalism through a positive and cooperative attitude, while maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of client relationships and related work products.
- Contributing to team success by mastering EY methodologies and tools to enhance service delivery.
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role, you must have :
- An anticipated undergraduate or graduate degree with a concentration in Finance, Economics, or a related field supported by a strong academic record .
- 3.0 cumulative college/university GPA .
- Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in basic MS Office tools, and strong writing abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- An interest working in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
- Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.
