Financial Analyst
Monitors budget activities and assists with budget preparation; analyzes human resources, equipment and resource data management; and performs budget/resource forecasting and reporting. Analyzes expenditures, revenues, economic trends, and process effectiveness to develop and run scenarios for administrative planning purposes. Work requires contact with other governmental officials. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
EssentialDuties
- Compile data for upcoming fiscal year budget requests and/or financial and special reports.
- Complete internal budget adjustments within district or division strategy parameters.
- Review requests for resource reallocations, evaluate justifications, recommend actions and submit Additional Funding and Budget Requests.
- Manage and monitor budget activities, coordinate budget preparation, and perform budget/resource forecasting and reporting.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Education
:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. - Experience
: 1 year budget analysis and forecasting or related work experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. - Licenses and Certifications
:
Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Considerable knowledge of:
- Generally accepted accounting principles, procedures, and terminology
- Fiscal planning and management practices
- Budgeting methods and procedures
- Proficient skill in:
- Maintaining effective working relationships with others
- Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files, and reports
- Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems
- Sedentary work:
Lift up to 10 lbs. at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools. - Repetitive Motion—substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Close Visual Acuity—work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Houston District is seeking a dedicated and detail‑oriented Resource Management Analyst to join our team at Houston Tran Star, the region’s hub for real‑time traffic operations and emergency coordination.
