DescriptionReceives emergency and non-emergency requests from the University community and dispatches calls to University Police Officers using a police radio.
ResponsibilitiesMust obtain TCOLE Telecommunications License within 12 months.
- Education:
Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. - Experience:
No experience is required. - Certification/Licensing:
None required. Must obtain TCOLE communications certification within 12 months of hire.
Requires a general working knowledge of a specific functional area and the ability to apply that knowledge in a structured environment. Work consists of fairly standard procedures and tasks.
Change in KnowledgeThe knowledge and/or technology used in the job changes frequently, requiring frequent study and training. Job may require continued or continuing education.

- Candidate for hire must have or be able to obtain a Texas Driver's License at the time of a bona fide job offer.
- Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job.
- Must be able to obtain a Basic Telecommunicator Certification through TCOLE within a year from hire.
- If you have a Telecommunicator’s license please attach a copy under miscellaneous Documents on the application.
- Must pass Computerized Criminal History Check, Background Investigation and Drug Testing prior to employment.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime assignments.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements.
- Employees are required to work various assigned shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends and may be required to remain at their post for an additional shift. All staff are “essential personnel” and are required to report to work during inclement weather.
- Position is physically comfortable; individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.
- Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks.
All positions at the University of Houston System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
