We're seeking an experienced Vice President or Director of Government Relations to lead our government affairs strategy, strengthen relationships with policymakers, and advocate for policies that improve access to behavioral healthcare across the communities we serve.
Position Summary
The Vice President/Director of Government Relations will develop and execute Psych Plus' government relations strategy at the federal, state, and local levels. This executive will serve as the organization's primary liaison with government officials, regulatory agencies, industry associations, and key stakeholders to advance legislative and regulatory priorities that support our mission.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience navigating healthcare policy, reimbursement, Medicaid/Medicare programs, behavioral health legislation, and government affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute Psych Plus' government affairs and public policy strategy.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with elected officials, legislative staff, regulatory agencies, and healthcare organizations.
- Monitor federal and state legislation, regulatory changes, and reimbursement policies impacting behavioral healthcare.
- Advocate for policies that improve access to psychiatric and behavioral health services.
- Represent Psych Plus before government agencies, legislative committees, and industry associations.
- Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives involving healthcare policy and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, operations, and clinical leadership on regulatory matters.
- Prepare policy briefs, legislative updates, executive summaries, and stakeholder communications.
- Identify government funding opportunities, grants, and strategic partnerships.
- Coordinate advocacy efforts with healthcare coalitions and professional organizations.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Healthcare Administration, Law, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in government relations, healthcare policy, public affairs, or legislative affairs.
- Strong understanding of federal and state healthcare regulations.
- Experience working with Medicaid, Medicare, CMS, or state health agencies.
- Proven success influencing healthcare policy and building relationships with policymakers.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to analyze complex legislation and communicate policy implications to executive leadership.
Preferred
- Experience in behavioral health, mental health, healthcare services, or health systems.
- Master's degree, MPA, MPH, JD, or related advanced degree.
- Experience working with healthcare associations or government agencies.
- Knowledge of value-based care, telehealth regulations, and behavioral health reimbursement.
