Job Summary

Responsible for building key relationships with physicians and referral sources; serves as the clinic mentor and liaison in rolling out clinical treatment guidelines approved by leadership; assists manager in holding the clinical staff/team accountable to best practice guidelines, which includes documentation of operational metrics set forth by the business unit. Supports the Clinic Manager or Director to ensure that departmental objectives are efficiently conducted within the framework of the stated purpose of the organization and in accordance with current standards of rehabilitation medicine.

May be a Physical or Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant; reports to the clinic manager or Director.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Build relationships with physicians and referral sources, serving as a resource to referral sources and maintaining positive interaction with physicians and their staff.
  • Develop efficient methods to communicate clinical and patient-related information between our staff and the physician to produce excellent physician-patient-therapist communication and positive referral trends.
  • Serve as clinical mentor and liaison for assigned physician, working specifically with all members of the team to elevate clinical skill for any physicians and any diagnosis.
  • Orient new employees to practices and procedures.
  • Maintain current clinical level guideline standards and create and monitor the positive patient experience in own practice and in team.
  • Assist in the management of clinic operations, facilitating attainment of organizational/clinical objectives through managing team members.
  • Ensure awareness of clinic goals for new patients, visits, and units, and monitor staff performance on key indicators of productivity.
  • Assist in developing plans to meet staffing needs and participate in “Best Practice” development and evaluation, providing feedback to clinic director regarding staff performance, morale, obstacles/success, with suggestions for operational improvements.
  • Present relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty.
  • Promote safe care for patients, staff and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency, supporting department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization, and serving as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences, modeling Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Physical Therapist Assistant/Occupational Therapist Assistant from an accredited program.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission, or
    • Current license to practice Occupational Therapy by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
    • Advanced certification (ATC, SCS, OCS, manual, women’s health, CHT, etc.) required within two years of entering the position.
