Job Overview

As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering precision radiation therapy to cancer patients. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that treatments are administered safely and accurately while providing compassionate care throughout the process. Your expertise will contribute to our world‑renowned reputation for delivering the highest standard of cancer care.

Key Functions
  • Administers safe and accurate radiation therapy treatment.
Clinical Practice Management
  • Ensures accurate treatment delivery and data capture, demonstrating sound clinical judgment and adherence to accurate treatment and simulation delivery.
  • Gathers necessary set‑up aids and prepares room and equipment for patient.
  • Consistently works at a speed that supports treatment/simulation unit scheduling.
  • Maintains appropriate treatment and simulation records and data. Sets appropriate treatment unit parameters.
  • Demonstrates necessary manual dexterity and psychomotor skills to operate and manipulate the complex mechanical motions of radiation‑emitting treatment units.
  • Works under stress and pressure.
  • Adapts without difficulty to changes in work schedule or assigned area as departmental patient load dictates.
  • Visually monitors patient for unusual reactions and events and reports the same to the radiation oncologist.
  • Explains treatment procedure to the patient, communicates in a clear, concise voice, answers patient and family questions, defers those not within competence to the radiation oncologist, and reinforces radiation oncologist's advice regarding reactions to treatment and their care.
  • Refers patient to allied health specialists such as social workers, dietitians, and nursing.
  • Performs and maintains Quality Assurance activities.
Quality Assurance Management
  • Complies with departmental quality assurance practices.
  • Ensures consent forms for radiation therapy are in the treatment record and have been signed by the patient before administering the treatment.
  • Monitors and maintains daily treatment records and machine QA, including portal image review/approval guidelines and adjustments in field placement as needed.
