Transport EMT

We are searching for a Transport EMT—someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will perform a variety of routine and specialized patient care activities, as assigned, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Respiratory Therapist (RRT). The Transport EMT will operate in a dual role, acting as both an EMT transport team member and a communication specialist in the Transport Center.

Qualifications:

• Successful completion of an Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC) required
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required
• Texas Department of State Health Services EMT certification (EMT, EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-A, EMT-P, Paramedic) required
• Dispatch skills highly preferred

Responsibilities:

• Provide patient care within the EMT scope of practice, following policies, protocols, and guidelines delegated by the RN or RRT
• Deliver high-quality patient care and customer service
• Obtain and document vital signs and physiological values using appropriate monitors; respond to alarms and notify the RN of abnormal findings
• Maintain confidentiality concerning patient and family issues, demonstrating sensitivity and understanding HIPAA laws
• Respond promptly to campus emergencies by deploying the code response team in the Transport Center
