Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour (paid weekly)

Openwork is partnering with Harris County to recruit a dedicated Nutritionist to serve families in the Baytown area through the WIC program. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with parents, infants, and children, providing guidance that supports lifelong healthy habits and stronger community health outcomes.

Position SummaryAs a Nutritionist, you will deliver individualized and group nutrition education that empowers families to make informed, healthy decisions. This role blends client engagement, counseling, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration in a supportive public health environment focused on wellness, prevention, and equitable access to care.
You will serve as a trusted resource for families during critical stages of growth and development, offering evidence-based guidance with professionalism and compassion.
Key Responsibilities- Build respectful, culturally responsive relationships with clients.
- Determine program eligibility based on residency, income, and health guidelines.
- Provide individual and group nutrition counseling with practical, easy-to-follow recommendations.
- Recommend appropriate food packages and specialized formulas based on client needs.
- Monitor and document client progress using growth charts, anthropometric data, and iron assessments.
- Maintain accurate, compliant records in accordance with program standards.
- Support quality assurance and regulatory compliance efforts.
- Participate in community outreach and public health education initiatives.
- Collaborate with clerks, lactation consultants, and healthcare partners to coordinate services.
- Advocate for nutrition education, access, and health equity for participating families.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 24 credit hours in Food and Nutrition coursework.
- Strong communication skills and a client-centered approach.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.
- Commitment to serving diverse populations with professionalism and empathy.
- Ability to perform light physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and extended sitting.
- Genuine interest in public health, education, and community service.
- Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Third Saturday of each month: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
