Responsible for interpreting, filling and checking physician orders. Also, responsible for compounding and checking IV admixtures. Responsible for adherence to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession and State and Federal laws. Responsible for clinical activities as determined by pharmacy director or lead pharmacist. Responsible for the provision of services for all populations of patients (infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
Whatyou will do in this role
- Direct and coordinate the timely filling and delivery of drugs and IV solutions from the pharmacy.
- Accurately compound/check/supervise the mixing of IVs according to physician orders.
- Check, dispense, and document issuances of controlled substances according to applicable laws and hospital policies.
- Enter orders, file, and check all medication distribution processes, including prepackaging of medications.
- Ensure that all drugs, IV solutions, and supplies are adequately stocked.
- Recommend changes and ensure that all policy and procedure changes are communicated and followed.
- Consult with and advise Medical Staff and patients, when appropriate, concerning information obtained on medications, such as warnings issued on drugs currently on the market, incompatibility of certain drugs, or contraindications of drugs or other pharmaceuticals.
- Reconcile MARs and review antibiotic sensitivities on a regular basis.
- Check and ensure that all floor stock medications are filled and charges reconciled.
- Assist in Acudose/Robotic/Meditech maintenance and upgrades.
- Perform quality‑monitoring functions as requested.
- Provide hands‑on, day‑to‑day supervision and direction for all pharmacy support staff.
- Promote positive customer services with internal and external customers.
- Perform all other job related duties as assigned.
- Currently licensed to practice Pharmacy in the State of Texas through the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and be in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy, or Pharm.
D. Degree from an accredited College Pharmacy required. - Experience with computerized pharmacy systems required.
- Experience in I.V. admixture and unit dose drug distribution system required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in hospital pharmacy preferred.
