Coding Quality Assurance Specialist III
We’re looking for a Coding Quality Assurance Specialist III, someone who’s ready to grow with our company.
In this position you will assign and audit the accuracy of ICD‑10‑CM and CPT codes to ambulatory, emergency center, observation, and day‑surgery records for billing, research, and to provide information to government and regulatory agencies. You will ascertain the accuracy of physicians’ E/M and procedure coding against their documentation, complete the auditing reporting tool, and provide this feedback to the education team and/or provider.
The incumbent may perform only certain of the following responsibilities, depending on their work assignment.
- Assign ICD‑10‑CM, ICD‑10‑PCS, and DRG codes to hospital inpatient records.
- Review and interpret physician documentation to appropriately assign diagnosis and procedure codes.
- Communicate with and provide feedback to the education team and/or providers.
- Review patient charges to determine necessary coding to complete the account.
- Identify principal and secondary diagnoses and procedure codes from the electronic medical record.
- Utilize the encoder or coding books to generate ICD‑10‑CM, ICD‑10‑PCS, and DRG codes for diagnosis and procedures.
- Sequence diagnosis and procedures to generate appropriate billing.
- Utilize other available resources for assignment of codes as necessary (eg Epic, MIQS, Cardio IMS, and coding reference materials).
- Assist other coders in resolving coding problems.
- Complete abstracts for records as appropriate.
- Assist in correction of problem accounts.
- Review charts for completeness.
- Participate in education and maintain certification.
- Assist in auditing records.
- Maintain concurrent coding for inpatient records.
- Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Must hold one of the following licenses/certifications: CCA, CCS, CCS‑P, CIPC, COC, CPC, CRC, RHIA, RHIT.
- Required 4 years coding experience with preferred experience using an encoder and experience using an electronic medical record.
- Experience using an encoder and EMR for inpatient hospital coding is highly desired.

Salary: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year. Full‑time.
