Pharmacy Technician
Location: Houston, TX
Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Contract: 3 months

The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in medication preparation, compounding, repackaging, filling, and delivery of medications. The role supports safe and accurate dispensing practices for patients ranging from newborns to adults and assists with controlled substance management in accordance with hospital and departmental standards.

• Assist the pharmacist in the preparation, compounding, repackaging, and dispensing of medications

• Support procurement, storage, record-keeping, and distribution of controlled substances

• Accurately enter patient information including diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area

• Follow aseptic technique and infection control practices for sterile product preparation

• Complete annual aseptic technique recertification with a minimum score of 90%

• Ensure accuracy of medications prepared as verified by the pharmacist

• Perform batch, medication, and prescription order entry competently

• Maintain adequate inventory of medications and supplies in coordination with Pharmacy Support Services

• Apply dilution and expiration dating labels per department standards after pharmacist verification

• Registered Pharmacy Technician (required)

• IV sterile compounding certification preferred (not required)

• Knowledge of hospital and departmental pharmaceutical handling standards

• Strong math, reading, and communication skills

• Ability to operate equipment used in sterile product preparation
