Position

Summary

The Clinic Coordinator plays a dual role supporting both the operational efficiency of Student Health Services and the holistic well‑being of students. This position coordinates daily clinic operations while also providing non‑clinical student support services, including care coordination, resource navigation, and short‑term solution‑focused interventions for students navigating health, academic, or personal challenges. The role serves as a key point of connection between students, healthcare providers, and campus and community resources.

The ideal candidate embodies a professional, compassionate, and team‑oriented approach to clinic and operational coordination for Student Health Services. They will be primarily responsible for coordinating the clinic, as well as acting as a dedicated advocate for students, skillfully collaborating with campus partners to facilitate care while maintaining appropriate confidentiality. Furthermore, this individual will serve as a trusted connector, proactively maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of community resources to ensure students have access to the support they need.

Requirements

This position is exclusively on‑site and full‑time, necessitating all duties to be performed in person at Rice University. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.

Hiring Range

$57,000–$60,000 annually, contingent upon qualifications and experience.

* Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, psychology, health services, human services, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare coordination, student services, case management, or social services
Skills
  • Strong understanding of student development and challenges faced by college‑aged populations
  • Ability to establish and manage priorities and handle numerous time‑sensitive projects with conflicting and varied deadlines in a fast‑paced clinical environment
  • Ability to accomplish goals through formal and informal channels with diplomacy and tact
  • Demonstrated creativity, problem‑solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment, and decision‑making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and meet budget goals
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Preferences
  • Master’s degree in social work (MSW), counseling, public health, or nursing
  • Experience in a college or university health or student support setting
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed, culturally responsive, and equity‑centered practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules
  • Ability to screen for interpersonal violence
  • Experience in an outpatient or primary care setting
  • Experience working with adolescents or college‑aged populations
  • Familiarity with electronic health records
  • Strong customer service skills
