Job Summary and QualificationsThe Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) performs all modes of respiratory therapy in patients of varying ages and medical conditions. Therapy is performed in accordance with the standards of practice as defined by HCA Houston Medical Center. The Respiratory Care Practitioner works independently, utilizing a variety of sophisticated instruments and technology and demonstrates good judgment and decision making in the treatment and handling of the individual patient.
The Lead RRT may oversee other staff and assist the department management as directed. Also, identifies opportunities for continuous improvements of processes and services on an on-going basis.
What you will do in this role:
- Communicate verbally via telephone
- Communicate verbally in a face-to-face situation
- Communicate in written form
- Communicate and convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
- Inspect machinery, office equipment, and/or medical equipment
- Trouble-shoot medical equipment
- Solve problems requiring interpretation
- Utilize reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Make judgments to take action which could result in death of patient
- Noise: sufficient noise to cause distraction or possible hearing loss
- Exposed to infection from disease-bearing specimens
- May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
- Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases
- Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes
- Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
