Position is responsible for planning, reviewing, and controlling all activities and functions of clinical transformation by using Information Technology to continually assess and improve the way patient care is delivered and providing managerial, technical and motivational leadership. The Clinical Informaticist will drive clinical transformation through careful analysis of current processes and workflows and change management strategies that align with Memorial Hermann’s strategic plan, values, and objectives of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System (Memorial Hermann).
The Clinical Informaticist will achieve transformation by accounting for patient's view of continuity of care, departmental view of integration, and all clinical disciplines’ view of best practice. He or she will leverage available resources, metrics, benchmarks, system standards, policies, and procedures across the system to achieve transformation. The Clinical Informaticist demonstrates informatics knowledge and skills required in a large, complex corporate Information System to ensure the efficient, effective, and consistent delivery of high quality services.
The Clinical Informaticist will work closely with system, service line, and facility leadership and resources to assist in the design of the clinical information systems (CIS) system and build consensus around the process, workflow, and content for the CIS. The Clinical Informaticist is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to the values of the corporation through active participation in the Partners in Caring, Customer Service, Six Sigma, and Robust Process Improvement programs.
Typically reports to Manager, Clinical Informatics.
Education: Clinical degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, or equivalent degree or Bachelors (or higher) in Informatics required.
Licenses/Certifications- Epic Certification or Accreditation in Clinical Informatics, Clinical Builder, or Clinical Applications modules is preferred.
- Preferred license in clinical discipline;
Certification in clinical/health informatics is preferred.
- At least three (3) years of experience in direct patient care setting using Clinical Information Systems preferred
- Experience in change management, clinical informatics, project management, quality improvement methods and tools, data analysis methods and tools, decision support methods and tools, and electronic health records is preferred
- Experience in the implementation of large and complex Information Systems in a healthcare environment is preferred
- Knowledge of Information Technology and Microsoft Office tools, including experience in workflow documentation, preferably with Microsoft Visio or equivalent workflow documentation tool
- Working knowledge of eLearning tools such as Adobe Captivate, Adobe Connect, or equivalent is preferred
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively work individually and in a team with all levels of the organization
- Effective Customer Relationship Management Skills necessary for efficient problem resolution to maximize customer satisfaction
- Ability to understand concepts and translate them into actions
- Participates in the development of an overall strategy for clinical transformation by using CIS technology. Participates in development for Memorial Hermann.
- Plans, organizes, and assists in CIS implementations, and the infrastructure required to support these applications, to meet current and future technology needs. Supports the business goals and objectives of Memorial Hermann.
- Identifies opportunities for optimization of clinical processes leading to increased efficiencies and reduced unnecessary variation.
- Actively seeks input from physicians, nurses, and other professionals to identify problems, design, and implement solutions, and communicate the findings to the clinical staff, Chief Nursing Office (CNO), Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Information Systems Divisions (ISD) leadership.
- Works to increase utility, promote adoption, create sustainability of the CIS through multi-disciplinary teams, and create an infrastructure for reporting quality information.
