Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

This Psychology Fellow position is an integral part of a HRSA training grant received. The objective of this fellowship is to develop the skills to become a leader and advocate in adolescent health. This is a one-year fellowship. To become a leader and advocate in mental health, the LEAH grant supports collaborative interdisciplinary clinical, research, advocacy and teaching training and work with rigorous didactic opportunities for interdisciplinary learning.

Job Duties
  • Provides evidence-based therapy (individual, family, and group) to adolescents (aged 10‑24). The clinical sites include the:
    1) Texas Children's Hospital Adolescent Inpatient Unit,
    2) Texas Children's Hospital Adolescent Outpatient Clinic,
    3) Covenant House Texas, a crisis shelter for young adults, and
    4) Harris Health Pediatric and Adolescent Health Clinic.
  • Provides services to patients who present with diagnoses such as eating disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, medication adherence, and family conflict.
  • Collaborates on ongoing research or develops their own research question with opportunity to present research at scientific meetings.
  • Supervises 1‑2 doctoral level practicum students in their clinical work.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or PsyD from an accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Completion of an APA‑accredited predoctoral internship no more than five years prior to the initial appointment date.
  • Experience in a psychiatric inpatient setting.
  • Experience administering psychological test batteries, including projective measures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Psy.

    D. in Clinical, Counseling Psychology, or School Psychology in an APA accredited program, APA‑accredited internship.
  • Previous hospital or pediatric experiences is a plus.

Work Authorization Requirement:

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment.
