Overview

Eddins Counseling Group (ECG) in Central Houston, TX is an established, outpatient group practice serving Houston Heights and Montrose neighborhoods. We offer counseling services for children, teens, adults, couples, and families. We are LGBTQ+ and anti-racist affirming, with a focus on care, compassion, and ongoing learning. This is a hybrid role in Houston Heights/Montrose.

Role Overview:
We are seeking fully licensed, experienced mental health providers with daytime, evening, and/or weekend availability. We want clinicians who are passionate about counseling, desire to be part of a supportive team, and are interested in growing clientele within an integrated environment. Therapists should be able to commit to at least 15-20 clinical hours per week or a 20-client per week caseload;

this is a hybrid role with self-managed caseloads and schedules.

We welcome therapists who can work with diverse client populations and presenting issues. Specific training or certification in a niche (e.g., trauma, play therapy, EFT, Gottman, etc.) is preferred. Please indicate experience or training with specific populations. Supervision training and other training opportunities are available, including ongoing education. We cannot accept practicum students who will be out of the office for longer than 10 consecutive days;

practicum semesters should occur back to back.

Must be fully licensed in the state of Texas and have experience providing multiple therapy sessions through treatment goals. Key Responsibilities
  • Providing Therapy/Counseling:
    Conduct individual, couples, family or group therapy sessions to address clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral issues. Utilize various therapeutic approaches and techniques tailored to clients’ needs and goals. Help clients develop coping strategies, insight, and skills to manage their challenges and improve their well-being. Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all client interactions.
Responsibilities:
Assessment, Documentation, Collaboration
  • Assessment and Diagnosis:
    Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand clients’ presenting concerns, history, strengths, and needs. Use diagnostic tools and criteria to formulate diagnoses when appropriate. Collaborate with clients to develop treatment plans based on assessment findings and mutual goals.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    Maintain accurate, up-to-date records, including assessment notes, treatment plans, progress reports, and other relevant correspondence. Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards regarding confidentiality, record-keeping, and informed consent.
  • Collaboration and Referrals:
    Collaborate with other mental health professionals, healthcare providers, and support services to coordinate comprehensive care. Make referrals to specialists or community resources as needed to address clients’ specific needs beyond the scope of therapy.
Continuing Education and Development
  • Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in mental health counseling. Pursue ongoing training, certifications, or licensure to enhance clinical skills and maintain licensure requirements.
Qualifications
  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Licensure or certification as a therapist or counselor
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build rapport with clients
  • Motivation to learn and grow professionally
  • Experience delivering evidence-based counseling to children, teens, parents, couples, or adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, or related to specific treatment approaches
  • Experience with EDMR and family trauma
  • Ability to create a safe and therapeutic environment; cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds
  • Adherence to ethical standards and legal regulations governing mental health practice
  • Desire to develop a long-term career with ECG
