Surgical Technologist – CVORJob Description
This position is responsible for providing expert perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation. The role functions as a scrub assistant to the physician performing operative and/or invasive procedures. Works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and as outlined in the Surgical Technologist Skills Inventory; uses knowledge and expertise to act as a role model and resource for other staff.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program - License/Certification:
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Current Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) - Experience:
Two (2) years of CVOR experience as a surgical technologist required
- Demonstrates knowledge and practice of perioperative patient care concepts; ability to perform independently as first scrub in assigned specialty areas.
- Strong understanding of aseptic principles and surgical instrumentation.
- Ability to support case readiness and flow to ensure optimal functioning of the unit.
- Commitment to professional growth, continuing education, and serving as a resource to less experienced staff.
- Perform independently as first scrub in assigned specialty areas.
- Verify functioning and availability of supplies/instruments/equipment prior to surgical procedures.
- Apply principles of asepsis to ensure optimal patient care in the OR.
- Ensure safe care to patients by adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Promote professional growth and development; meet mandatory education and competency requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Salary Range: $54,300 – $83,300 (Salary is based on experience.)
- Sign-on bonus and night shift differential may apply.
