Shift

Shift: 07:00 AM to 05:30 PM [Mon to Fri] - [4x10]

Responsibilities
  • Upon the order of a qualified provider, the Ultrasound Technologist utilizes equipment that employs high frequency sound waves for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology Department and Kelsey‑Seybold Clinic.
  • Imaging services vary by location, therefore, performance of sonohysterography and/or vascular ultrasound may be required depending on assigned site.
  • Utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) to complete clerical processes and the designated Patient Archiving System (PACS).
  • May be assigned to other duties, technical or non‑technical if training, experience and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties.
  • Appropriately seek physician intervention as outlined in KSC Radiology policies and procedures during the performance of diagnostic exams.
  • Understand and apply technical principles affecting optimal production of sonographic images, as well as anatomical orientations and anomalies affecting final product.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, vendors, and coworkers; interact with Managers, Supervisors, Lead Techs, and Radiologists; provide initial assessment when appropriate.
  • Participate in Technical Quality Control measures, including routine equipment maintenance, reporting malfunctions or variances, maintaining supplies and cleaning logs.
  • Use RIS and PACS systems correctly, document atypical conditions, identify image transmission problems, and notify supervisors when corrective actions are beyond scope.
  • Maintain ultrasound safety measures, utilize sterile technique when necessary, and comply with all KSC safety initiatives.
  • Participate in formal and in‑service training programs of Kelsey‑Seybold Clinic and maintain current applicable licenses and certifications.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: High School diploma or GED from an accredited program.
  • Experience: Minimum 1‑year ultrasound experience (may be met through completion of a formal ultrasound training program offering minimum 1‑year clinical instruction).
  • Skills:
    • PACS and RIS experience.
    • Ability to use computer keyboard and grasp elements of digital image acquisition.
    • Bi‑lingual or multi‑lingual proficiency.
  • Licenses:
    • RDMS with a minimum of 2 specialty registries applicable to our practice.
    • OR RT(R)(S) and minimum of 2 specialty registries applicable to our practice.
    • BCLS certification.
  • Other: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Nice to Have

  • Appropriately seeks physician intervention as outlined in KSC Radiology policies and procedures.
  • Understandage‑related communication needs of patients and convey instructions effectively to facilitate studies.
  • Participates in Technical Quality Control, equipment maintenance, and reporting malfunctions.
  • Uses RIS system correctly according to Clinic and Department guidelines and documents atypical conditions.
  • Has ability to provide initial assessment; understands PACS and identifies image transmission problems.
  • Conscious of ultrasound safety measures; utilizes sterile technique when necessary; complies with all KSC safety initiatives.
  • Participates in formal and in‑service training programs; maintains current licenses and certifications; complies with continuing education requirements.
  • Interacts effectively with vendors, patients, and coworkers; communicates readily with Manager, Supervisor, Lead Tech, and Radiologists.
  • Capable of dealing effectively with other clinic departments, physicians, and staff.
