About Our ClientAddison Group is partnering with a healthcare organization seeking an experienced Physician A/R Specialist to support professional claims follow-up in a value-based reimbursement environment. This role is ideal for strong collectors who understand the full claims lifecycle and are comfortable managing high volumes of commercial payer follow-up.
Job DescriptionThe Physician A/R Specialist is responsible for resolving assigned accounts receivable, managing claim follow-up, and ensuring timely reimbursement from major commercial payers. This role requires strong EOB interpretation skills, persistence in denial resolution, and the ability to meet daily productivity expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage assigned professional claims (CMS-1500 / 837P) from submission through resolution.
- Follow up with major commercial payers (BCBS, UHC, Cigna, Aetna, etc.) on outstanding claims.
- Read and interpret EOBs to identify denial reasons and underpayments.
- Submit appeals and supporting documentation as needed.
- Verify insurance benefits and ensure accurate payer information is updated.
- Obtain medical records and supporting documentation to facilitate payment.
- Process required claim adjustments per department protocol.
- Handle medical record requests and assist with related service tickets.
- Communicate assertively with payers to obtain accurate claim status updates.
- Maintain clear, professional documentation in all systems.
- Minimum 2 years of medical collections experience required (3–5 years preferred).
- Strong understanding of the claims process from beginning to end.
- Ability to read and analyze EOBs.
- Experience with commercial payer collections required.
- Cardiology experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of managed care plans (HMO, PPO, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Assertive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working high-volume payer accounts.
- Tech-savvy and able to navigate multiple systems simultaneously.

Flexible start time between 7:30am–8:30am
