Duration

1‑year contract with the possibility of up to 2 additional one‑year extensions.

Shift Schedule

24/7 facility coverage. Rotating 8‑hour shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Up to 40 hours per week.

How Many Shifts Needed Per Month

Full‑time coverage required (up to 40 hours per week per technician). Approximately 160 hours per month per FTE, depending on assigned schedule.

Credentialing / Onboarding Time

6 weeks to 8 weeks

License

No state license required.

Certifications
  • HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) – Preferred
  • CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution) – Preferred
Experience Needed

Minimum 1 year of sterile processing experience required

Special Skills Needed
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures
  • Experience with reprocessing reusable medical equipment (RME)
  • Proficiency operating washer‑disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, cart washers, steam sterilizers, STERRAD, and V‑Pro Max sterilizers
  • Experience with instrumentation tracking systems
  • Ability to assemble complex instrument trays (General, Ortho, CV, Neuro, Ophthalmology, Urology, ENT, Plastics, Dental)
  • Endoscope reprocessing experience
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, data entry, tracking systems)
  • Strong infection control and OSHA compliance knowledge
Responsibilities

Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization support, and distribution of surgical instruments and endoscopic equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and VA policies. Prepare case carts, maintain sterile storage areas, operate tracking systems, and support minimally invasive surgical procedures across multiple clinical departments. Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, infection control protocols, and performance thresholds established by the VA.
