Overview

The Social Work department helps patients, families, and caregivers cope with cancer and eliminates psychosocial barriers to care through integrated programs in patient care, research, education and prevention.

Provide comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and counseling services to individuals, families and groups. Support compliance with treatment protocols, advance care planning and assist with resource linkage as part of a multidisciplinary health care team.

• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments using appropriate diagnostic criteria to inform and implement interventions for a comprehensive treatment plan.
• Utilize counseling techniques and resource knowledge throughout the disease trajectory, including end of life, survivorship and bereavement.
• Participate in continuity of care and/or discharge planning. Facilitate advance care planning.
• Document patient care activity in the institutional electronic health record in accordance with departmental documentation policy.
• Other duties assigned.

• Required:
  
  Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW or MSSW) from an accredited program approved by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

• Preferred: 1 year social work experience in a health care setting.

• Required:
  
  LMSW – Licensed Master Social Worker, Texas (upon hire or as applicable).
• Required:
  
  LCSW – Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Texas (upon hire).
