Required Qualifications
  • Valid Physical Therapy license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in physical therapy
  • Clinical experience (new graduates welcome)
  • Additional certifications or licenses as applicable
Summary

The Physical Therapist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with physical impairments to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life. Working in hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers, they create evidence‑based treatment plans and use exercise and manual therapy to promote recovery and independence.

Essential Work Functions
  • Evaluate patients’ conditions using standardized tests and clinical examinations to identify functional limitations and treatment needs
  • Develop personalized rehabilitation programs based on assessment findings and patient goals
  • Implement physical therapy treatment plans with various techniques to improve mobility and reduce pain
  • Operate and maintain specialized therapy equipment and modalities safely
  • Assess progress, adjust plans, and document evaluations, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other health professionals to coordinate care
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, body mechanics, injury prevention, and self‑management strategies
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control and safety protocols
  • Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities
  • Participate in discharge planning for transitions to community or home care
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking and strong interpersonal communication
  • English language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with PC skills
  • Physical abilities: able to stand, move, lift 50‑100 lbs, push/pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal skills: work effectively with diverse personnel and maintain professionalism
  • Technical/motor skills: grasp, fine manipulation, and assistance with procedures and equipment
  • Mental requirements: handle public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, manage irregular schedules, maintain focus on detail
  • Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication
