Position Overview:

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for providing high quality nutrition and physical activity education to Harris County residents. The Dietitian will collaborate amongst the team effectively in order to continually improve programs geared toward chronic disease prevention, nutrition, and physical activity. The position responsibilities also include building and maintaining relationships with community partners.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides engaging, evidence based nutrition and physical activity education to individuals and groups within Harris County. Including cooking and physical activity demonstrations.
  • Creates educational materials, presentations, and workshops tailored to the needs of specific populations.
  • Plans and performs outreach activities to increase program's engagement and participation.
  • Attends community events and builds partnerships with local organizations to promote nutrition and physical activity education.
  • Keeps abreast of current research, approaches, theories, and practices related to nutrition and physical activity.
  • Collect and analyze program data to provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on progress and outcomes.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, Dietetics, or related field from an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited College or University.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Dietitian currently commissioned with the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR).
  • Valid TX Driver's License.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
  • Ability to work well with public and staff members
