Job Summary
The MFM Sonographer Educator I is an entry-level position focused on performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations in maternal-fetal medicine under direct supervision. This role is responsible for producing quality sonographic images, adhering to established protocols, and supporting physicians in the assessment and care of expectant mothers and their fetuses. The sonographer maintains patient safety and privacy, ensures accurate documentation, and demonstrates a commitment to learning and professional development within a collaborative healthcare environment.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate’s Degree from an accredited medical sonography program.
- Basic Life Support certification from an approved American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) program.
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) certification in OBGYN specialty.
No experience required; experience in MFM ultrasound scanning is preferred.

- Exhibits willingness to learn: continuously demonstrates effort to gain necessary knowledge and skills, embracing professional development and adaptability.
- Performs timely and accurate ultrasound studies: conducts MFM studies and prepares reports efficiently under supervision, ensuring adherence to departmental protocols and AIUM standards.
- Utilizes ultrasound techniques: applies appropriate methods to improve image quality and diagnosis.
- Teaches and mentors learners: instructs sonographer students and other learners in proper MFM skills and protocols, fostering a supportive environment.
- Demonstrates adaptability: remains flexible in response to unexpected changes in work volume, emergencies, staffing, location, scheduling and coverage.
- Engages in quality improvement initiatives: actively participates in programs to enhance service delivery and outcomes.
- Maintains high-performance standards: consistently achieves performance QA scores of 80% or greater and seeks additional duties when work is complete.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations: builds effective relationships with clinicians, patients, staff, and learners to support organizational objectives.
- Communicates effectively: clearly receives and conveys instructions, information, and feedback both verbally and in writing, adapting style to diverse audiences.
- Provides compassionate, patient-centered care: identifies and acts on opportunities to meet or exceed patient needs, ensuring privacy, safety, and satisfaction.
