The Behavioral and Social Sciences Department in the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine invites applications for a clinical faculty position in the field of Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology. We are recruiting new faculty who have achieved excellence in education, teaching, and research and are prepared to contribute to our bold vision (http://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).
This is a Clinical Assistant Professor, non‑tenure track faculty position. The role will allocate FTE for clinical work and teaching at the UH Health Family Care Center, with possible future teaching opportunities in the UH College of Medicine.
This position provides direct patient care for the University of Houston Health Family Care Center and actively contributes to the educational mission through clinical teaching, training, and supervision of medical and graduate student learners in behavioral health fields.
Responsibilities- Provide outpatient mental health services to children, youth, and families, applying evidence‑based practice principles, patient‑background guided, and trauma‑informed care.
- Collaborate with community health workers, schools, and medical teams to coordinate access to care.
- Implement needs assessment consultations and diagnostic evaluation processes.
- Implement treatment programs including clinics for disruptive behavior, internalizing problems, and dialectical behavior therapy.
- Contribute to clinical program development.
- Participate in community outreach activities.
- Provide training and direct clinical supervision for doctoral psychology students.
- Precept medical students in the UH Health Family Care Center (FCC) as part of the Longitudinal Primary Care Course and Psychiatry Clerkship.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in clinical psychology with a child and adolescent focus.
- Licensed or licensed‑eligible as a psychologist in the State of Texas.
Required
- Graduate of an APA‑accredited Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program with clinical expertise in working with children and adolescents.
- Applicants must have a PhD, MD, or DO from an accredited institution.
- Official transcripts are required for faculty appointment.
- Physician applicants must possess an unrestricted Texas Medical License and board certification in their specialty.
- All positions require a criminal history check.
- Employees are expected to have a home address in the State of Texas for the duration of their appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed psychologist in the State of Texas.
- Experience in supervising clinical psychology graduate students.
- Experience in medical education.
- Updated CV
- Statement of clinical service and training interests and experience.
- Recent student evaluations of the applicant’s teaching/supervision (if available).
- Names and contact information of three professional references.
