Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem (Job Overview)

Schedule:

Monday-Friday (7:30AM-6:30PM) | One Saturday Per Month (7:30AM-4:30PM) | As Needed

At Legacy Community Health, we are looking for a passionate Per Diem Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be an essential part of our mission to provide top-notch patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist by obtaining and entering patient information to ensure accurate medication dispensing.
  • Ensure patients receive the correct medication using proper dispensing procedures.
  • Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies with safety precautions in mind.
  • Ensure proper techniques are used when preparing medications and prioritize tasks based on workload.
  • Process insurance adjudication and pre-authorizations promptly.
  • Complete and document daily and monthly activity checklists, including expired drug checks and area inspections.
  • Offer and document appropriate counseling time to patients.
  • Communicate respectfully with customers, co-workers, referring physicians, and insurance companies.
  • Participate in the education and training of new and existing pharmacy employees.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist clients at the cash register.
  • Engage in hand-off communication when starting and ending shifts.
  • Notify Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager of unresolved issues and follow up as necessary.
  • Participate in inventory management and support 340b program inventory integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program is required.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certificate is required.
  • Current registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must be able to pass a math test pertinent to retail pharmacy activities.
  • Current BLS / CPR certification is required.
  • Two (2) years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in community pharmacy is preferred.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in pharmacy logistics is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, community, and the public.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Project management skills and understanding of 340b regulations, inventory management and managing a cash register.
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong typing and computer skills, including Windows, Excel, and accounting software.
  • Above average organizational skills.
