Eddins Counseling Group (ECG) is an established outpatient group practice located in Houston Heights and Montrose, Texas. ECG is an LGBTQ+ and anti‑racist affirming practice that offers counseling for children, teens, adults, couples, and families.

Role Overview

We are seeking fully licensed, experienced mental health providers who are available during day, evening, and/or weekend hours. Candidates should be passionate about counseling, eager to grow their clientele, and ready to work collaboratively within an integrated team.

The position requires a commitment of at least 15–20 clinical hours per week, or a caseload of 20 clients per week. This hybrid role allows you to manage your own schedule and client load within a supportive environment. Preferred training or certification in a niche such as trauma, play therapy, emotionally focused therapy, Gottman, or similar is highly valued, and extensive opportunities for further training and supervision are available.

Key Responsibilities Providing Therapy/Counseling
  • Conduct individual, couples, family, or group therapy sessions to address clients’ mental, emotional, and behavioral issues.
  • Utilize various therapeutic approaches and techniques tailored to each client’s needs and goals.
  • Help clients develop coping strategies, insight, and skills to manage their challenges and improve their wellbeing.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all client interactions.
Assessment and Diagnosis
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand clients’ presenting concerns, history, strengths, and needs.
  • Use diagnostic tools and criteria to formulate diagnoses when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop treatment plans based on assessment findings and mutual goals.
Documentation and Record‑Keeping
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records, including assessment notes, treatment plans, progress reports, and other relevant correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards regarding confidentiality, record‑keeping, and informed consent.
Collaboration and Referrals
  • Collaborate with other mental health professionals, healthcare providers, and support services to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
  • Make referrals to specialists or community resources as needed to address clients’ specific needs beyond the scope of therapy.
Continuing Education and Professional Development
  • Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in mental health counseling or therapy.
  • Pursue ongoing training, certifications, or licensure to enhance clinical skills and maintain licensure requirements.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Full licensure or certification as a therapist or counselor in the state of Texas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and empathy to build rapport with clients.
  • Motivation to learn and apply evidence‑based counseling to children, teens, parents, couples, or adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, or other concerns.
  • Experience with EMDR and family trauma preferred.
  • Ability to create a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for assessments, documentation, and collaboration with other professionals.
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ethical integrity and adherence to professional codes of conduct and legal regulations governing mental health.
  • Desire to develop a career within ECG.
