In this vital role, you will create engaging, supportive activities tailored to enhance cognitive function, promote social interaction, and improve overall well-being. - Prepare and support daily activity schedules that promote meaningful engagement and social connection.
- Use effective, person-centered dementia care techniques to support participants throughout the day.
- Maintain safety and sanitation standards by assisting with janitorial and facility support, including cleaning floors, restrooms, and common areas, emptying trash, and supporting general facility upkeep.
- Assist participants with personal care needs, including toileting and eating, while maintaining dignity and respect.
- Provide protective supervision to ensure participant safety at all times.
- Accurately document care and comply with state licensing standards and Day Center policies.
- Foster a positive, welcoming, and cheerful environment for participants, families, and staff.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support overall Day Center operations.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–2 years of experience working with older adults, preferably individuals living with dementia (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with seniors, individuals with disabilities, families, and team members
- Prior experience assisting with Activities of Daily Living and working in long-term or home & community care settings is highly desirable
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing needs of participants
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the quality of life for older adults living with cognitive impairments
- Relevant certifications in caregiving, social work, or dementia care are a plus
