Description Are you ready to make a real difference in people's lives? Join the Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD as Master Level Clinician (MLC) or Licensed Therapist at our SE Clinic. The Master Level Clinician performs clinical activities under the supervision of a State Approved Licensed Supervisor to include assessments, development of recovery plans in collaboration with the treatment team and provision of services based on consumer needs utilizing Trauma Informed and Patient Centered principles in compliance with performance contract requirements.

The LPHA performs clinical activities such as independent assessments and service interventions as directed by the plan of care and/or identified consumer need(s). Other clinical interventions may be warranted based on assessed consumer need(s) to ensure continuity of care; connection to resources within the Harris Center system of care; connection to resources outside the Harris Center system of care; and for the purposes of addressing risk of harm and crisis resolution.

Your Role in Action:
  • Participates in formulation of the consumer’s treatment (inclusive of assessment of needs, treatment planning, admit/discharge planning, and service authorization).
  • Monitors consumer progress with treatment goals to determine effectiveness of interventions.
  • Performs clinical assessments to evaluate the individual’s priority population diagnosis eligibility and treatment needs.
  • Provides cognitive behavioral therapy focusing on the reduction or elimination of symptoms of severe and persistent mental illness and increasing the individual’s ability to perform activities of daily living.
  • Provides crisis intervention to individuals to reduce symptoms and prevent admission to a more restrictive environment.
  • Provides training on the nature of mental illness, the importance of medications, and other medication related information using the TIMA curricula as well as, other trainings as designated.
  • Provides skills training services that address the severe and persistent mental illness and symptom related problems that interfere with the individual’s functioning.
  • Performs activities to assist consumers in gaining and coordinating access to necessary care and services based on individual needs.
  • Responsible for reviewing and authorizing treatment/services based on medical necessity.
  • Ensures all services provided meet eligibility criteria and are authorized in accordance with agency and regulatory guidelines.
  • Meets Divisional productivity standards.
  • Performs related work as assigned. Adapts to changing work requirements. Complies with Center policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies and performance contract documentation requirements
  • Demonstrates ethical conduct in all clinical and professional activities
  • Advocates for consumers to ensure that needs are met both within The Harris Center system and in the community.
  • Communicates and works with consumers/visitors/other staff in a manner that demonstrates knowledge of cultural diversities
  • Completes reporting/training as designated in an accurate and timely manner.
What qualifications you will need:
Education :
  • Master’s degree or equivalent.
  • LPC-A, LMFT-A or LMSW in the state of TX
Experience:
  • 6 months clinical experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of diagnostic criteria, specific clinical features and guidelines for formulating a diagnosis.
  • Knowledge about cognitive behavioral therapy focusing on the reduction or elimination of severe and persistent mental illness (if applicable)
  • Maintains current Intern licensure/supervision with appropriate state licensing regulatory board.
  • Strong diagnostic skills, the ability to incorporate patient history, symptoms, environmental and related issues to formulate proper diagnosis & treatment.
  • Strong communication skills, listening and interpersonal skills above average, written documentation is clear, concise, and well-constructed.
  • Knowledge of safer suicide care practices and evidence-based interventions is a strong plus.
