Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Donor Operations department at MD Anderson Cancer Center plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and reliable blood supply for cancer patients. Behind every donation is a highly controlled manufacturing process that transforms whole blood into components that can be safely stored, distributed, and used to support patients throughout their treatment. The team operates under rigorous quality, safety, and regulatory standards to ensure every blood product meets the highest expectations for patient care.

This Component Processing Technician position offers the opportunity to work directly in the manufacturing and processing of blood products in a highly regulated healthcare environment. The role is ideal for a detail-oriented and dependable professional who takes pride in following precise procedures, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the quality and safety of products that directly support cancer patients.

In this role, you will manufacture whole blood into blood components in accordance with current good manufacturing practices, departmental SOPs, and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include properly storing and distributing blood components, operating and maintaining processing equipment, performing required quality control, maintaining accurate manufacturing records, and appropriately quarantining or disposing of unsuitable blood products.

You will play an important role in maintaining product quality and regulatory compliance by ensuring required monthly blood product quality control is completed, documenting quality assurance activities, monitoring inventory, and remaining current on procedures and policies. You will also work with supervisors and coordinators in the production of specialty blood products and assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving to maintain an efficient manufacturing process.

Strong attention to detail, accountability, and teamwork are essential to success in this position. You will work independently while supporting coworkers as needed and may assist with training new employees and students on established techniques and processes. Because the work directly affects the availability and safety of blood products, the ability to consistently follow procedures and maintain accurate documentation is critical.

The role also requires a strong commitment to customer service and professionalism. You will communicate with internal and external customers, assist with resolving questions or issues, and remain calm and professional in varying circumstances. Dependability, punctuality, appropriate workplace conduct, and a commitment to safety are essential components of the position.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working within a highly regulated laboratory or manufacturing environment. Candidates who enjoy hands-on technical work, following established procedures, maintaining precise records, and contributing to a team that produces lifesaving blood products will find this opportunity especially rewarding.

MD Anderson offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including paid medical benefits, generous paid time off, retirement plans, tuition assistance, professional development opportunities, and additional benefits, along with the opportunity to build a rewarding career at one of the world's leading cancer centers while supporting the blood products that are essential to the care of cancer patients.
