Medical Assistant Bilingual - Northline (Job Overview)

Monday-Friday (8AM-4:30PM)

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview patients to gather medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height
  • Record medical history, vital statistics, and test results in medical records

    Collect and prepare blood, tissue, or other specimens for testing
  • Assist physicians during patient examinations, providing instruments and materials as needed
  • Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, ensuring cleanliness and supply restocking
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and manage contaminated supplies
  • Conduct phone consultations regarding test results and health concerns
  • Process specimens, ensuring proper labeling and packaging for lab pickup
  • Perform phlebotomy and other diagnostic tests
  • Administer medications as ordered, including oral, intramuscular, SubQ, and topical
  • Ensure proper documentation of patient care activities
  • Stock exam rooms with supplies, checking for expired items, and managing waste
  • Participate in OSHA compliance programs and performance improvement initiatives
  • Promote a respectful and courteous environment for all patients and staff
  • Work collaboratively within a primary care medical home model
  • Attend safety training programs and adhere to safety protocols
  • Maintain work area and equipment per Legacy and governmental standards
  • Report safety concerns promptly and follow exposure control plans
  • Demonstrate proper use of protective equipment and maintain a safe environment
  • Attend annual education programs and perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • BLS/CPR Certification required
  • Up to one year experience
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills
  • Basic front desk, clerical or healthcare support specialist skills/experience
  • Ability to work with clinical staff, works well under pressure, and multitask within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to the concepts of preventive health care and team approach to health care delivery
  • Experience working with computers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Phlebotomy skills preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical records, preferred
