Join the Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center as a Medical Records Technician II and play a vital role in supporting quality patient care through the accurate management of health information and exceptional customer service. In this position, you will maintain and update electronic and physical medical records, assist providers with documentation corrections, respond to record requests, and ensure patient information is accurate, accessible, and compliant with privacy regulations.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and service-focused, with experience working in electronic health records, preferably Epic. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with clinical teams, provide outstanding support to patients and staff, and contribute to the integrity, confidentiality, and overall efficiency of behavioral health services. This is a Monday through Friday am-5pm schedule.

Two-week onboarding process for all new hires - Hospital-Wide Education Orientation:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (first two weeks)

Ensure physical documentation is organized, legible, properly identified/itemized in the correct patient's chart and accounted for according to Medicaid/Medicare and organizational guidelines to facilitate payment for services. Maintains confidentiality and privacy as required by UTH and government regulatory compliance agencies.
Position Key Accountabilities- Locates and retrieves records to accurately audit and verify patient information.
- Updates client charts with information in a timely manner.
- Assist providers or other users with correcting record documentation.
- Tracks location of any charts supplemental to the primary electronic health record using appropriate processes.
- Responds to information requests either in person, email, within the electronic health record or by telephone in a timely manner.
- Maintains compliance with UTH and government privacy rules.
- Participates in privacy monitoring processes.
- As requested, locate and make ready charts or information from charts in a timely manner.
- Assists with identifying and correcting inaccuracies including duplicate accounts within the patient record.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Familiar with Electronic Health Records software.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams etc.)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) preferred
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum Experience Experience With Epic Health Information Management Module Preferred1 year of responsible related experience working within Medical Records required
Physical RequirementsExerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
