The Sterile Pharmacy Technician family is responsible for mixing, preparing, and producing Compounded Sterile Products (CSPs) and for maintaining the sterile compounding area (cleanroom), following all Company SOPs and applicable state and federal regulations, under the supervision of a pharmacist.

This posting covers a single four levels of increasing scope, technical complexity. To keep this posting concise, each level after Level I lists only its incremental duties and competencies; each level is expected to independently perform all duties and competencies of the level(s) below it.

Lead Sterile Pharmacy Technician or Production Supervisor

• Perform technical and aseptic manipulations in the ISO 5 laminar hoods.
• Compounds all required types of sterile preparations accurately and in compliance with the batch record.
• Operates all compounding equipment accurately and according to policy and procedure.
• Perform sterile techniques such as injecting active drug into sterile IV bags, filling syringes with medication for injection and pooling vials into sterile empty bags with repeater pump.
• Completing batch records for orders using good documentation practices, ensuring drugs and supplies are in date before use.
• Ensure the compounding room and related equipment are cleaned and maintained daily pursuant to the Company's SOP's and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Proper labeling and packaging finished products.
• Completes any other duties designated by the pharmacist and/or supervisor.
• Cooperates with team members to accomplish departmental goals.
• Understands and adheres to policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the job, completing all annual competencies and skills validations.

• Independently prepare assigned CSPs in accordance with approved master formulation records, batch records, SOPs, and pharmacist direction, with only routine (not direct) oversight.
• Perform additional sterile manipulations, including vial reconstitution, drug transfers, and dilutions/admixtures.
• Perform calculations and verify measurements prior to compounding.
• Demonstrate proficiency with automated or semi-automated equipment used by the department.
• Identify discrepancies in orders, ingredients, quantities, lot numbers, expiration dates, and batch records, and elevate deviations and potential quality concerns to the pharmacist.
• Assist with inventory control and expiration-date management.
• Assist with investigation of documentation errors, process deviations, and rejected preparations, and with implementation of corrective actions as directed by pharmacy leadership.
• Train and mentor Technician I employees on approved procedures after being designated as a trainer.
• Assist with technician competency assessments when authorized.
• Support departmental productivity and quality objectives.

• Perform advanced and complex sterile compounding activities within validated processes, including complex or high-volume batch preparations.
• Operate advanced compounding equipment and assist with troubleshooting.
• Serve as a technical resource for Technician I and Technician II staff.
• Train and mentor sterile pharmacy technicians; assist pharmacists and supervisors with technician competency evaluations and with onboarding and skills validation of new technicians.
• Review production workflow and assist with prioritization of assigned work; monitor adherence to batch records, SOPs, and established production procedures.
• Identify recurring process issues and communicate trends to pharmacy leadership.
