Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Psychiatric Physician Assistant to join our dynamic mental health team. In this vital role, you will collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care. Your expertise will help improve patient outcomes through accurate assessments, medication management, and therapeutic interventions. This position offers flexible patient care through Telehealth as well as in-person appointments.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including intake interviews, mental status examinations, and physical examinations to evaluate psychiatric conditions.
- Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with collaborative practice agreements and DEA regulations, ensuring safe and effective treatment plans.
- Administer injections such as Botulinum toxin treatments for therapeutic purposes when indicated.
- Utilize Osmind EMR/EHR system for accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records, and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines to develop comprehensive care strategies, including acute pain management and crisis intervention.
- Participate in clinical research and clinical trials to advance psychiatric treatment methodologies and contribute to evidence-based practice.
- Provide patient education on mental health conditions, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and health coaching techniques.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Physician Assistant with current state licensure in good standing.
- Demonstrated experience in psychiatric or mental health settings with hospital or outpatient experience preferred.
- Critical care experience or ICU experience is highly desirable, especially within Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency medicine environments.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinical
Works; telehealth experience is a requirement. - Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Strong understanding of pharmacology related to psychotropic medications and injection administration techniques.
- Experience with complex medical procedures including ventilator management, airway management, and infection control practices is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physical examinations accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques; familiarity with suturing is beneficial.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal units, and hospice & palliative care settings.
