Job Description Summary

The Housekeeping Supervisor will be responsible for initiating, maintaining, and delivering guest services. Direct supervision of line employees: room attendants and house attendants. Conducts daily and annual written documentation of work performance of subordinates’ activities. Hands‑on supervisory positions may, on occasion, involve performing tasks of subordinates to achieve operational goals and objectives.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • 2 to 5 years of supervisory experience required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must speak and write English
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule: nights, weekends, and holidays
Essential Elements
  • Ability to adhere to Sonesta grooming standards and safety guidelines
  • Open and close the house to assign rooms
  • Ability to communicate clearly with guests and/or employees
  • Ability to interact with guests and coworkers in a courteous, empathetic and discrete manner
  • Ability to read and write basic English
  • Ability to stand/walk for prolonged periods
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, and reach on a continuous and daily basis
  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 75 pounds
  • Ability to push/pull about 150 pounds
  • Ability to hear guest voices behind a closed door
  • Ability to utilize basic telephone system to communicate daily activities
  • Ability to work with chemical cleaners and disinfectants
Job Tasks
  • Maintain a quiet, professional atmosphere in all guestrooms, corridors and public areas.
  • Inspect rooms and public areas; monitor room assignments and guestroom set‑up.
  • Maintain linen, amenity, and supply inventory.
  • Complete beginning/ending shift procedures, which include proper opening and closing of the house utilizing PMS systems.
  • Ensure 100% positive inspection rate on guestrooms and floors.
  • Delegate daily assignments to subordinates.
  • Follow bending and lifting techniques.
  • Follow procedures for reporting safety hazards.
  • Follow procedures for entering a guestroom.
  • Follow procedures for chemical use.
  • Honor Do Not Disturb and Privacy Please rooms.
  • Follow procedures for processing torn and stained linen.
  • Assist in the direction and development of housekeeping staff.
  • Conduct pre‑shift meetings.
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action when needed for the line staff.
  • Provide positive feedback and recognition of the performance of employees.
  • Follow daily sign‑in/out key control.
  • Use proper housekeeping vocabulary.
  • Follow up on daily assignments of subordinates.
  • Receive and communicate information to guests and coworkers.
  • Interact with other hotel departments to achieve guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate directly with guests in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Control and monitor the use of equipment, chemicals, and machinery utilized in achieving goals and objectives.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.
