The bartender is tasked with curating exceptional experiences for discerning guests, blending technical expertise, creativity, and impeccable service standards. The role demands a deep understanding of classic and contemporary mixology, superior interpersonal skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest level of professionalism that matches the luxury standards of the hotel.
Key Responsibilities- Expertly prepare and present a wide range of cocktails, mocktails, spirits, wines, and other beverages according to hotel standards and guest preferences.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current beverage trends, cocktail recipes, and innovative presentation techniques.
- Ensure all drinks are served elegantly, with appropriate garnishes and glassware, reflecting the prestige of the hotel.
- Develop signature cocktails and seasonal specials in collaboration with the Food & Beverage Manager.
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure product quality.
- Follow strict cash handling procedures, process payments accurately, and balance the cash register at the end of each shift.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar at all times, adhering to hygiene and safety standards.
- Comply with all licensing, health, and safety regulations, including responsible service of alcohol guidelines.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and servers; communicate effectively with back‑of‑house staff and servers to ensure a seamless flow between kitchen and dining room.
- Participate in pre‑service meetings and briefings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED. - Experience:
2–3 years in a hotel, country club, or fine dining environment. - Technical
Skills:
Thorough knowledge of POS systems (e.g., Toast) to process guest orders and payments; extensive knowledge of wine, spirits, and mixology, including beverage “call names” and recipes; familiarity with responsible alcohol service and food handling/safety procedures. - Personal
Skills:
Ability to understand and give general instructions; strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills in English (verbal and written);
Spanish speaking is a plus; strong customer service orientation; proactive and guest‑service approach; positive, professional demeanor; ability to work well in a team environment. - Physical
Skills:
Able to stoop, stand, reach, and lift food/beverages; capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying items up to 50 pounds; able to work extended periods without relief; comfortable in a busy bar setting and assisting servers as needed. - Flexibility:
Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; willing to work shift work, overtime, and/or on‑call duties; scheduling may vary based on operational needs.
City:
Houston, TX. The hotel operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Working hours may vary; shifts, start times, and total hours per week are determined by operational needs.
