We are seeking a highly organized and reliable Payroll Specialist to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll for our expanding workforce at a rapidly growing client in Sugar Land, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll regulations, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a fast-evolving environment. You’ll play a critical role in supporting our employees and ensuring compliance as we scale.
Key Responsibilities- Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple states (and/or countries if applicable).
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, deductions, and benefits.
- Maintain and update payroll records and employee data within the HRIS and payroll systems.
- Review timesheets and resolve discrepancies in coordination with managers and HR.
- Handle off-cycle payrolls, bonuses, terminations, and final pay in accordance with company policies and local/state labor laws.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries with clarity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Prepare payroll reports and support finance team with reconciliations, audits, and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Stay up to date on payroll best practices and regulatory changes that may affect payroll processing.
- 3-5+ years of payroll processing experience; multi-state or high-growth company experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with payroll software UKG REQUIRED
- Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and benefits administration.
- High degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus.
