We are seeking a highly organized and reliable Payroll Specialist to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll for our expanding workforce at a rapidly growing client in Sugar Land, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll regulations, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a fast-evolving environment. You’ll play a critical role in supporting our employees and ensuring compliance as we scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple states (and/or countries if applicable).
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, deductions, and benefits.
  • Maintain and update payroll records and employee data within the HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Review timesheets and resolve discrepancies in coordination with managers and HR.
  • Handle off-cycle payrolls, bonuses, terminations, and final pay in accordance with company policies and local/state labor laws.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries with clarity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Prepare payroll reports and support finance team with reconciliations, audits, and journal entries.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Stay up to date on payroll best practices and regulatory changes that may affect payroll processing.
Requirements
  • 3-5+ years of payroll processing experience; multi-state or high-growth company experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with payroll software UKG REQUIRED
  • Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and benefits administration.
  • High degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus.
