Innovista Health Solutions, based in Illinois, operates in Illinois and Texas. We re seeking to add a HR Generalist to our Houston, Texas team, reporting to the HR leader.

The HR Generalist will be responsible for overseeing and executing day-to-day HR functions, including maintaining employee records, processing payroll, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and helping foster a positive workplace culture.

The HR Generalist should have broad knowledge of human resources functions, including onboarding and offboarding, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, payroll, training and education, unemployment and employment verification inquiries, and leave of absence.

Key Duties and Responsibilities of the HR Generalist
  • Employee Relations:
    Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, guide conflict resolution, support company culture, recognition, and team-building initiatives, promote policies and best practices, and coordinate investigations under the guidance of the HR leader.
  • Compensation and Benefits Administration:
    Support administration of benefits (health insurance, retirement, and other perks); serve as a point of contact for benefits questions and for compensation inquiries; make recommendations for compensation matters.
  • Payroll Administration:
    Manage payroll using Paylocity to ensure accurate, timely payments; ensure payroll compliance with laws; respond to inquiries and maintain payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefits adjustments.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws and maintain a safe, legally compliant work environment.
  • Performance & Talent Management:
    Support managers with performance reviews, goal setting, and development plans; coach leaders on performance-related concerns with fairness and accountability.
  • Employee Engagement & Onboarding:
    Contribute to onboarding for new hires, conduct orientation, and continuously improve onboarding to enhance engagement and retention.
  • Special Projects &

    Collaboration:

    Support company-wide HR initiatives and cross-functional projects; promote teamwork and clear internal communication across departments.
  • Other Duties:
    Work with third party on leave of absence administration; serve as a point of contact for employment verification and unemployment matters; other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of HR generalist and payroll experience, ideally in a small to medium-sized company with multiple sites, preferably in healthcare.
  • HR Certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
  • Strong knowledge of Paylocity payroll system and payroll best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience with benefits administration and employee relations.
  • Ability to facilitate training and group discussions.
  • Willingness to work in the office with travel locally frequently and within Texas (10%–20%).
