HR Associate - US/Canada HR Business Partner Support
Location: Houston, TX
About the RoleThe HR Associate will provide day-to-day operational and administrative support to the HR Business Partner (HRBP) team covering the US and Canada.
Key ResponsibilitiesHRBP Support
- Partner with HRBPs to support day-to-day people operations for assigned client groups
- Prepare materials for talent reviews, organizational changes, and business updates
- Track and follow up on action items from HRBP meetings
- Assist in documenting and tracking employee relations cases
- Support investigations by scheduling interviews, taking notes, and organizing documentation
- Answer basic employee questions as necessary
- Escalate sensitive matters appropriately to HRBPs
HR Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS (e.g., Success Factors)
- Pull and format reports on headcount, turnover, leaves, and other people metrics
- Support audits related to compliance, I-9s, or provincial employment standards
- Process employment changes: new hires, transfers, promotions, terminations
- Coordinate onboarding/offboarding logistics in partnership with HR Operations
Compliance & Policy
- Support compliance with US federal/state employment laws and Canadian federal/provincial employment standards
- Help track policy acknowledgments, mandatory trainings, and required postings
- Assist with unemployment claims, leave administration (FMLA, state leaves, Canadian leave programs), and accommodation tracking
Programs & Projects
- Support performance review cycles, engagement surveys, and merit/compensation processes
- Assist with special projects such as process improvement, HR system upgrades, or policy rollouts and others assigned by COEs
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 1-3 years of HR experience (internship experience considered)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace; comfortable learning HRIS platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Experience working across both US and Canada employee populations
- Familiarity with Workday, Success Factors, ADP, or similar HRIS
- Experience in a matrixed or multi-site organization
- Discretion and sound judgment
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Comfort working across time zones and with cross-border nuances
