Lateral Recruiting Manager – This role may be performed remotely or at any of our locations. Position Summary

The Lateral Recruiting Manager is responsible for managing the recruiting and hiring processes for specified lateral paralegals and attorneys. The role works closely with the Managing Director of Growth, the Director of Legal Recruiting, and SBU leadership to oversee all aspects of the hiring cycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, offer negotiations, and compliance with firm policies.

Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Planning
  • Lead lateral paralegal and attorney recruiting and hiring efforts across selected SBU’s.
  • Meet regularly with SBU leadership to provide candidate updates and align recruitment strategy with industry needs.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer to ensure a diverse applicant pool.
Recruiting Workflow & Execution
  • Oversee preparation of associate job postings.
  • Review and screen resumes from candidates and search firms.
  • Schedule interviews, conduct screening interviews, and maintain candidate status in the recruiting database.
  • Coordinate with SBU leadership to determine offer terms and with Risk Management to resolve licensing issues.
  • Ensure compliance with conflicts checks and submit finalized offer letters for approval.
  • Proactively source candidates using Linked In, Firm Prospects, social media, and other channels.
  • Develop and evaluate alternative recruiting strategies and market research to inform compensation and hiring practices.
Team Management
  • Allocate workload among recruiters, provide training and mentorship.
  • Assist the Managing Director of Growth and Legal Recruiting Director in operations, performance assessments, feedback, and process improvement.
External Communications and Relationships
  • Oversee external career postings and maintain relationships with search firms.
  • Coordinate ad fee agreements and website updates as needed.
Budget
  • Assist in developing, monitoring, and approving the recruiting budget and related expenses.
Data Management & Analytics
  • Report performance statistics and recommend strategic changes.
  • Support recruiting surveys and NALP forms, maintain accurate records, and produce reports with the Legal Recruiting Manager.
  • Train team members on recruiting database usage.
  • Track lateral recruiting results for Mansfield certification.
Miscellaneous
  • Participate in professional recruiting associations.
  • Travel to other firm offices to attend events or provide support.
  • Assist with law student and summer associate recruitment as required.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • 4‑year degree, preferably in a related field.
  • 5 years of progressive recruiting experience at a law firm; internal candidates must demonstrate similar responsibility.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, and self‑motivation.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to represent the firm favorably and business‑like.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with recruiting team members and firm leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office products.
  • Willingness to work after hours and travel to other offices as needed.
