The Field Recruiter is responsible for attracting, sourcing, and supporting the hiring of qualified field employees across the organization’s landscape operations. This position takes a proactive, boots-on-the-ground approach to recruiting and builds strong candidate pipelines through community outreach, referrals, job fairs, workforce organizations, and direct sourcing.
The Field Recruiter partners closely with Operations and Human Resources to understand staffing needs and ensure a consistent pipeline of qualified candidates for high-volume field positions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Recruit for high-volume field positions, including Landscape Laborers, Crew Leaders/Foremen, Drivers, Irrigation Technicians, Chemical Applicators, Equipment Operators, and other operational roles.
- Develop and maintain an active pipeline of qualified field candidates.
- Conduct proactive recruiting in the communities and geographic areas where employees live and work.
- Attend job fairs, hiring events, community events, and workforce development programs.
- Build relationships with trade schools, workforce organizations, community groups, and other recruiting partners.
- Utilize employee referrals, social media, job boards, grassroots recruiting, and other sourcing methods to identify candidates.
- Conduct initial candidate screenings and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
- Partner with Branch Managers and operational leaders to understand current and upcoming staffing needs.
- Regularly visit branches and field locations to maintain visibility and strengthen relationships with Operations.
- Assist with hiring events and on-site interview days.
- Maintain accurate candidate and recruiting activity records within company systems.
- Track recruiting activity, candidate pipelines, hiring results, and other key recruiting metrics.
- Provide candidates with timely and professional communication throughout the hiring process.
- Support pre-employment and onboarding activities as needed to ensure candidates successfully transition to employment.
- Promote the company as an employer of choice within the landscape and field-services community.
- Perform other recruiting and Human Resources duties as assigned.
- 2+ years of recruiting, staffing, or high-volume hiring experience preferred.
- Experience recruiting for landscaping, construction, skilled trades, manufacturing, transportation, or other field-based industries strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable engaging candidates directly in field and community environments.
- Ability to manage multiple open positions and changing staffing priorities.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems, job boards, and social media recruiting.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between company locations and recruiting events.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods.
- Ability to attend outdoor recruiting events and visit operational and field locations.
- Ability to lift and carry recruiting materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions as required.
