Temporary Chinese Language Ballot Proofing Clerk

Position Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Translate all election-related materials; including, but not limited to, ballots, documents, forms, notices, brochures, posters, flyers, social media content, and press releases from English to Chinese and vice versa.

* Assist with the ballot proofing process, including Logic & Accuracy Testing, to ensure translated materials are correct and consistent.

* Collaborate with the coding team in preparing ballot translations, and assist in recording audio ballots and IVR (Interactive Voice Response) recordings.

* Provide language assistance to Chinese-speaking constituents, including responding to calls, inquiries, and requests for election-related information.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Compliance and Elections Department.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

* High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.

* One (1) year of translation experience.

* U.S. Citizen.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Ability to read and write fluently in both Chinese and English.

* Ability to type the Chinese language (Traditional Chinese).

* Ability to learn and understand the general election terms.

* Must be able to work independently, under stress, and very tight deadlines.

* Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

* Ability to work overtime without prior notice and work flexible hours as required.

* Proficient in MS Office Suite.

* Must be willing to travel to other locations required to participate or assist with projects.

December 18, 2026 - This is a temporary position being onboarded through a Harris County-contracted agency.

* Monday - Friday | 8:00 a.m.

- 4:30 p.m.

* Includes some weekend and extended hours during peak election periods.

* Ability to work overtime without prior notice and work flexible hours as required.

* Must be willing to travel to other locations required to participate or assist with projects.

* $20.00 Hourly

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
