Position Summary

The Matter Applications Specialist – SaaS is a member of the Matter Operations Applications team and is responsible for the maintenance and support of various SaaS applications used by the firm’s business professional teams in support of the matter lifecycle.

This role serves as a product expert, system administrator, and tier‑2 support analyst for SaaS applications assigned to the specialist. The specialist is the primary product liaison to matter operations business functions and technical counterparts in other IS teams and vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Utilize specialized knowledge of the applications within this domain to tackle complex operational challenges and project work.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of client matter lifecycle, matter centricity principles, fundamental ontologies and taxonomies, templates, and critical business processes supported by the applications.
  • Understand product features and workflows, architecture, database schema, front‑end configuration, security model, and customizations for the assigned applications.
  • Possess adequate knowledge of integrations, SaaS and cloud environments, databases, identity management and authentication methods, and compliance with security policies.
  • Proactively follow product releases and roadmaps; research and evaluate new product features and competitive alternatives as directed by leadership.
  • Lead projects and initiatives related to new technologies, solutions, and features to enhance the matter operations lifecycle; suggest improvements aligned to business objectives.
  • Manage deployments, upgrades, migrations, configurations, unit testing, and troubleshooting for both project work and operational support, enlisting IS resources and vendors when necessary.
  • Ensure all application support processes are clearly documented and accessible from the firm’s centralized IT change‑management platform and are kept current.
  • Train staff members as necessary and proactively communicate application changes to relevant IS teams and across the firm.
  • Provide backup support to secondary applications when required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5+ years of supporting matter operations applications in a law firm or a legal department of a professional services firm required.
  • Experience with matter operations applications in non‑U.S. geographies required.
  • Strong technical skills required to support SaaS applications.

  • Conflicts analysis in Intapp Conflicts.
  • Matter intake in Intapp Open.
  • Information governance compliance in Intapp Walls.
  • Outside counsel guidelines review in Intapp Terms.
  • Timekeeping in Intapp Time.
  • Matter workspace management in iManage.
  • Matter workspace management in Box.
  • Matter experience management in Litera Foundation.
Competencies
  • Strong problem‑solving ability.
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate with coworkers, vendors, attorneys, and staff via in‑person, e‑mail, and telephone.
  • Ability to present detailed or complicated information understandably, in written or verbal form as required.
  • Work may require more than 35 hours per week to perform essential duties.
  • Availability on‑call and after hours as necessary.
Salary

Illinois based applicants only: Target annual salary range $139,000 – $181,000 for a full‑time position. Compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include a discretionary merit bonus.

New York based applicants only: Target annual salary range $152,500 – $198,000. Compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include a discretionary merit bonus.

Washington, DC based applicants only: Target annual salary range $145,000 – $189,000. Compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include a discretionary merit bonus.
