Network Engineer

Overview

NOTE: This position will be based full-time in our Houston, TX office.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to Manager, IT Operations, the Network Engineer develops, plans, and implements projects and initiatives in the areas of network access and design. Acting as a senior technical resource for network technologies, they will work with the team, vendors, and partners to ensure a stable, reliable, and flexible communications infrastructure and help develop strategic initiatives and enhanced services based on business need and new technologies.

• Education/Certification:
  
  A minimum of a B.S. degree in computer science or engineering is required. Alternatively, an additional 4 years (14 total) highly relevant full-time working experience may be considered in lieu of a 4-year degree.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of 10 years of full-time, relevant working experience in network design and support including LANs, WANs, and wireless is required. Other required experience includes:
• Design and supporting VOIP systems or QoS/CoS.
• Network protocols (BGP, MPLS, VPN, OSPF, TCP/IP, STP).
• Authentication/authorization technologies (802.1x, NAC, Aruba Clearpass, Cisco ISE, or equivalent) and ACLs.
• VPN technology (site to site, IPSEC, always on VPN clients).
• Experience with all levels of network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls).
• Supporting and working with environments supported by service providers.
• Demonstrated technical documentation ability.
• Demonstrated professionalism and skills to communicate effectively with internal departments.

• Preferred/desired skills and experience
• Working in a highly-regulated industry.
• Familiarity with Fortinet, Aruba OS, Aruba OS-CX.
• Certifications in relevant areas (Cisco, Aruba, others).
• Linux support and administration.
• Experience with 21 CFR Part 610 or ISO 25746.

• Industry Requirements:
  Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
