Overview
NOTE: This position will be based full-time in our Houston, TX office.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to Manager, IT Operations, the Network Engineer develops, plans, and implements projects and initiatives in the areas of network access and design. Acting as a senior technical resource for network technologies, they will work with the team, vendors, and partners to ensure a stable, reliable, and flexible communications infrastructure and help develop strategic initiatives and enhanced services based on business need and new technologies.

Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
- Education/Certification:
A minimum of a B.S. degree in computer science or engineering is required. Alternatively, an additional 4 years (14 total) highly relevant full-time working experience may be considered in lieu of a 4-year degree. - Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of full-time, relevant working experience in network design and support including LANs, WANs, and wireless is required. Other required experience includes: - Design and supporting VOIP systems or QoS/CoS.
- Network protocols (BGP, MPLS, VPN, OSPF, TCP/IP, STP).
- Authentication/authorization technologies (802.1x, NAC, Aruba Clearpass, Cisco ISE, or equivalent) and ACLs.
- VPN technology (site to site, IPSEC, always on VPN clients).
- Experience with all levels of network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls).
- Supporting and working with environments supported by service providers.
- Demonstrated technical documentation ability.
- Demonstrated professionalism and skills to communicate effectively with internal departments.
- Preferred/desired skills and experience
- Working in a highly-regulated industry.
- Familiarity with Fortinet, Aruba OS, Aruba OS-CX.
- Certifications in relevant areas (Cisco, Aruba, others).
- Linux support and administration.
- Experience with 21 CFR Part 610 or ISO 25746.
- Industry Requirements:
Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
