Automation Application Architect

Overview

CTG is seeking to fill an Automation Application Architect position for our client.

Location: Houston, TX

Duration: 12 months

• Design and implement end-to-end application automation solutions that streamline business processes and optimize service delivery.
• Analyze functional and non-functional requirements to develop scalable, secure, and high-performing automation architectures.
• Provide solution architecture, detailed technical designs, and architectural governance across automation initiatives.
• Lead technology evaluation, selection, and integration of automation platforms and tools.
• Ensure automation solutions align with enterprise standards for security, compliance, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, and operations teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Architect and oversee integration of automation solutions with existing IT systems, applications, and data sources.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to development and implementation teams.
• Leverage reusable assets and best practices to accelerate delivery and improve solution quality.

• Expert-level knowledge of automation tools and platforms such as UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, and workflow-based automation.
• Strong experience with AI/GenAI-enabled automation, including digital workers, agent assistants, and intelligent automation use cases.
• Proficiency in designing and consuming APIs, including integrations with Watsonx and other hyperscaler platforms.
• Deep understanding of automation assets such as Digital Workers, IT/AI Operations, and Agent Assist solutions.
• Familiarity with IBM Delivery Central Platform (IDCP) and IBM Consulting Advantage platform, including Methodx, assets, and assistants.
• Strong knowledge of application architecture principles, integration patterns, cloud-native concepts, and enterprise security.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

• 8+ years of experience in application architecture, solution architecture, or automation-focused technical leadership roles.
• Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale automation or intelligent automation solutions in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience integrating automation platforms with complex application landscapes and enterprise systems.
• Prior experience in consulting or client-facing roles is strongly preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
