Desktop Support Technician

Location: Houston, TX (Gulf Coast Division)

Employment Type: Contract

Target Pay Rate: $20/hr

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Occasional Sunday travel may be required

Position Overview

Apex Systems is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to provide onsite technical support for our client in the Houston, TX area. This role focuses on device refreshes, hardware troubleshooting, and end‑user support within a regulated, hospital‑based environment. The ideal candidate is customer‑service oriented, technically skilled, and comfortable working independently.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience supporting desktop, laptop, and tablet hardware in an enterprise environment
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, onsite environment
  • Experience performing data transfers and validating end‑user functionality
  • Comfort working in healthcare or other regulated environments (preferred)
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, modify, repair, test, and service laptops, desktops, tablets, peripherals, and barcode scanners
  • Provide onsite support within a hospital environment, adhering to all client protocols and security standards
  • Execute desktop, laptop, and tablet refreshes, including hardware setup, testing, and issue resolution
  • Transfer user data from legacy devices to new equipment
  • Verify successful data transfer and validate basic software functionality with end users
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues and basic software problems
  • Follow established processes, documentation, and client‑specific deployment instructions
