Supply Chain Applications Specialist - Purchasing

Come lead with us  Houston Methodist, the Supply Chain Applications Specialist position is responsible for tactical support for material management software packages and databases. The role serves as the primary point of contact for database functions such as data entry, data maintenance, and coordination with IT and vendors. Systems supported include the ERP system, inventory management systems, contract and procurement system.

Exempt

• Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, an additional four years of experience in addition to the minimum experience required below.

• One year of experience in software and database support, preferably in a materials management database.

• Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the job, determined through ongoing skills assessment and performance evaluations.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English, especially regarding patient or employee safety or security.
• Effectively communicates with patients, physicians, family members, and co‑workers in a manner consistent with a customer‑service focus and positive language principles.
• Knowledge of a variety of technologies, including Microsoft applications.
• Adaptable to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Communicate in an active, positive, effective manner with all team members, staff, and vendors.
• Contribute to teamwork by consistently offering assistance and responding in a timely manner to requests for assistance.
• Liaise with IT and business stakeholders to support and maintain Supply Chain systems.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for database functions such as data entry, data maintenance (e.g., batch upgrades), and coordinate software updates with IT or vendor.
• Create reports as requested or work with IT/vendor to generate requested reports.
• Support upgrade implementations and upgrades, including testing and audit processes; make changes and corrections as needed and communicate to stakeholders.

• Identify technical problems or program enhancements and coordinate with IT or vendor.
• Test software upgrades and communicate upgrades to users.
• Contribute to effective business decisions through clear, concise communication and data‑driven reporting.
• Provide input and recommendations for process improvements and customer‑service approaches.

• Seek opportunities to increase efficiency and productivity for self and department.
• Support team goals and metrics through efficient, timely issue resolution.

• Anticipate client needs and communicate to department leadership for solution development.
• Generate innovative solutions in partnership with customers, vendors, and department.
• Proactively manage own professional development; complete My Development Plan (MDP).
